The Wicked Sons of Eli

Brent T., 2002

1 Sam 2:12  Now the sons of Eli corrupt; they did not know the Lord. 13 And the priests' custom with the people [was] [that] when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant would come with a three-pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. 14 Then he would thrust [it] into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there.

15 Also, before they burned the fat, the priest's servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, "Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw." 16 And [if] the man said to him, "They should really burn the fat first; [then] you may take [as] [much] as your heart desires," he would then answer him, "[No], but you must give [it] now; and if not, I will take [it] by force." 17 Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, for men abhorred the offering of the Lord...

22 Now Eli was very old; and he heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 23 So he said to them, "Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people. 24 "No, my sons! For [it] [is] not a good report that I hear. You make the Lord's people transgress. 25 "If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?" Nevertheless they did not heed the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to kill them...

29 `Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded [in] [My] dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?' 30 "Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: `I said indeed [that] your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.' But now the Lord says: `Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

31 `Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. 32 `And you will see an enemy [in] [My] dwelling place, [despite] all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. 33 `But any of your men [whom] I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age. 34 'Now this [shall] [be] a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them.'

3:10 Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears." 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel: "Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. 12 "In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 "For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them. 14 "And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever."

Eli and His Sons

Eli had a privileged responsibility, given to him by God. He was to be a leader of God's people, administering the sacrifices and worship, the most important duty in all Israel. However, Eli was a wicked man. We are given a glimpse of this in the way he judged Hannah in a harsh and false way. Eli was not a real man of God, he was a fraud. The full extent of his wickedness is seen in the character of his sons, and in the way he dealt with them.

Eli's sons were wicked men. They lived off of the sacrifices of the people. Moreover, they were dishonest about the way they used the meat that was brought for the offering. Many people told Eli about the vile behavior of his son's. Eli was fully informed of how his sons stole from the Lord in the sacrifices. Indeed, Eli heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

Eli knew what kind of people his sons were, he even talked to them about it from time to time, and told them it was not good, what he was hearing about them. But Eli never restrained them, which shows how wicked Eli was. Eli was the most vile sort of man, even worse than his sons, because he honored hypocritical, adulterous, lying, thieves above the Lord of Hosts.

Eli and his sons were also blind as to their predicament. Israel had been suffering some military defeats at this time, losing four thousand men. Eli and his sons supposed that they were worthy to bear the ark into battle, in spite of their sinful lives, in which they despised God, lied to and abused the people of God.

The Lord would have none of it. When the ark was brought into battle, there was a very great slaughter, and now thirty thousand fell, and the ark was captured. God would rather have the ark with the Philistines, where it would be cared for with proper reverence, than with the wicked house of Eli.

Eli had time to repent. He knew for years what sort of people his sons were. He had heard Samuel's prophecy, yet he was so arrogant and stubbornly set in his ways that he did nothing. Thousands of innocent lives were lost, and God required their blood at Eli's hands. Read the story in the Bible.

George Geftakys and His Sons

George Geftakys is a man with two sons. He has known for years what sort of behavior his sons, especially the older of them, has exhibited. He knew David was using more money than was right from the Lord's treasury, in order to buy car parts, pornography, exotic vacations, experimental fetal tissue implants and many other things. George also heard rumors and stories about his other son, Timothy, and knew that he was giving him more than a proper share from the Lord's treasury. Just like wicked Eli, George did nothing.

Actually, this is not entirely true. George did help slander people who brought a true report to him about his son's behavior. He also showed his sons how to hide money that people gave to the Lord, so it isn't as if he did nothing. The point is, he did nothing to stop this reprehensible behavior.

Israel suffered greatly under Eli. In like manner, God's people suffer under George and his sons. Read the material on this website to hear about the abuse that these men and their servants have perpetrated over the years.

Now, miraculously, the word has gotten out. George, Betty, and their sons are no longer able to lie about these things, and excommunicate the few people who have the courage to say something. No, it appears that they must give account. God is judging them. They are not fit to minister in His house, forever. This is certain.

Will You Be Like Eli and Excuse Them?

The real question is, what will you do, dear reader? Will you excuse these wicked men, and allow them to bear the testimony in hypocrisy? Will you let a great slaughter occur, because you are afraid to gainsay the wicked sons of Geftakys and their even more wicked father?

Or, are you going to finally recognize that the reports are true. Will you stop calling everything a "lie," and actually listen to two or three witnesses? Will you finally stop making excuses for the wickedness that your own eyes have seen and your own ears have heard? Will these men be removed from their thrones, or will you continue to bow down to them? These are very important questions.

Eli was removed, in spite of the cowardice of the people. God Himself did it. This will happen in the case of Geftakys as well. It must.  [George Geftakys was excommunicated from the Fullerton Assembly on Jan 19, 2003.] There is a long wake of broken lives trailing behind. These are people that at one time loved God and wanted to serve Him with every fiber of their being. Now, their faith has been damaged due to the reprehensible behavior of those who ruled over God's heritage.

However, the wicked house of Geftakys will be held accountable for this, along with all of their adopted sons, because "men abhorred the offering of the Lord," and they made the people transgress.

There Is Grace Available For This Situation

Let me end with a final observation. There is grace available for this situation. As wicked as this whole mess is, Jesus is able to cleanse and heal. And I might say that you only know about ten percent of it, there is much, much more to tell. [G. Geftakys' immoral behavior came to light in early January, 2003.] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confess!---Do not continue to hide it and wait for it to be exposed. (You won't need to wait long, but there will be more innocent lives ruined if you do.)

Repent!---People involved in this matter, which includes most of the Workers and all of the Elders are not fit to continue as leaders. Do not suppose that you can take the ark into battle in your current state, you most certainly can do no such thing.

Be cleansed---The wicked house of Geftakys must come down. Yes, I mean his house, not His house. The foundations are corrupt, they must be torn down and ground to powder. Perhaps God will raise something out of the ashes, perhaps not, but do not be involved in the wicked fraud that currently exists.

Choose you this day whom you will serve, the idol of George's house, or the Living God.

Readers' Comments....

June, 2007, J. T. Macy: Thank you, Brent, and all of those who helped put this website together. I was in the Assembly ten years ago, and I left, not under bad circumstances, but to join the Army. I learned a lot of lessons there and I made some good friends, but after I left, two things happened. First, all contact with the brothers stopped, and second, I was away and began to realize that things just didn't seem right--handling of money, losing your individuality, etc., and came to the conclusion that this might just be a cult. I googled George Geftakys about a week ago and was shocked and saddened at what I saw, and the more I read, the angrier I got. I have a lot of questions, and what I am about to write will not be kind, so fair warning, but this is something that needs to be said. Please forgive me if this offends.

How many people have the Geftakys' seduced over the last 35 years with their lies and their perverse brand of Christianity? How many millions of dollars have they taken for themselves while there are people that were struggling just to survive? How many young, impressionable college students, some of whom were my friends, have the life sucked out of them, their God-given gifts, abilities and talents stifled for the sake of "doing the Lord's work"? How many children have been beaten by their parents and it was justified as "correction"? How many people have been shamed for trivial things such as missing a meeting?

How could a "man of God" be accountable to no one for all these years? How could a person who had knowledge of his son abusing his wife for over 20 years and do absolutely nothing about it, let alone allow him to be a "Leading Brother"? How could women be told to submit, say nothing, when it seems that Betty Geftakys has exercised considerable influence over her husband, family, and anybody else she has come in contact with? How could all these "Leading Brothers", those in a position of authority, those that subscribe to the "Gospel of George", dictate every aspect of a member's life? How could a person violate the seventh commandment and commit adultery, and say to the woman, "It was the Lord that brought me to you?, etc..." How could a man who has been excommunicated still be allowed to preach? How could those who know the truth still support him?

I feel very sad for all those who have been deceived and have had their lives shattered because of the teachings of George Geftakys. To all the former Leading Brothers and all those that have left fellowship and bear the scars, I pray that you find true peace and joy. To all those that are still under the Geftakys' spell, I pray that you see the horrible truth for what it is and get out!!!

Finally to the Geftakys family, to all those in a position of authority, that know the truth, that hide the truth, that continue to support the Geftakys Assemblies and the Geftakys family, that continue to recruit unsuspecting people into this ministry, you have spiritual blood on your hands. I hope and pray that your hearts will be opened and you will right the wrongs that you have inflicted on the thousands of people that have suffered, and continue to suffer.
