Secular Books

Books on psychological and emotional abuse, grief, recovery, other cultic groups, and fiction with cult-related themes.

Offsite Booklists Ron Henzel of Rest Ministries has an extensive Recommended Reading list with his helpful comments. F.A.C.T.net recommends some secular books on topics related to mind control.
Audio and Videos

Audio and video resources on various topics related to spiritual abuse, as well as ministry from the Bible.

Devotional Helps

Confessions and catechisms are a summary of what the Bible teaches. They are great resources for enlarging our understanding of the Bible, and for encouragement. The written prayers of others, both liturgical and informal, sometimes give us a way to pray when we aren't able to ourselves.

Movies Movies that have relevance to Assembly issues.
Other Resources Good stuff not directly related to Assembly issues. Some items are mentioned elsewhere on the website.

Using These Resources  These resources can be a key to recovery, especially as you share and discuss them with others. As Dr. Enroth observes, the damage was done relationally, and much of the healing is also going to be relational. Help from a book or tape is dramatically amplified if you can talk about it with other survivors. An ideal discussion would include at least one ex-member of another Bible-based authoritarian group other than the Assembly.
